Under Way

We're getting married. I know I've shared this before but I can't believe this is actually happening! I'm going to marry James. I will become his wife and he will be my husbear. That's pretty amazing. Not only are we getting married but we're having a wedding! When I was a kid and thought about the future and being married, I never really thought about an actual wedding. Honestly. I just skipped right to the marriage and thought about what my husband would be like, what would we do, how many kids would we have and yada yada yada. I never gave a wedding much thought. My mother married my father in jeans at the courthouse when she was 17. I only remember being at a couple of weddings when I was a kid and they went by in a flash. I thought weddings were something only rich people had. Seriously. So I grew up never dreaming about my "perfect" wedding or "perfect" dress or any of that stuff. Even when James and I first started talking about getting married someday we thought about it on a very small scale. I still think it would be so romantic to go off to some beautiful place we both held dear and eloped. I was all for that in the beginning. James was the one who said he wanted a wedding because it would disappoint his family too much. Then we flip flopped where I wanted the wedding and he was like whoa whoa whoa what happened to eloping. Haha! Now, we're on the same page and this is what we both want. Granted, it will be a small wedding, we are so excited to be able to share this milestone with our families and close friends. Once I knew a wedding was officially happening all those years of not thinking about it caught up and it's all I think about! My mind is going a mile a minute and I can hardly keep track of all the fun ideas.

Wedding planning is officially under way and some very exciting things are happening! Firstly, we have officially set a date and put down the deposit for our venue!!! We're getting married on April 30, 2016. We're just shy of fourteen months away. Plenty of time right? Just in case I pull the "Oh I have time" and then rush at the last minute in usual Mandy fashion, I am keeping a notebook dedicated to planning and have made lists and lists of tasks to complete. I'm gonna be a DIY bride and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Disclaimer: I am going to post about the wedding A LOT. Sorry. Not sorry. Heheh. It's kind of a big deal to me. I plan on sharing every step of the way. You might see us change our minds several times or the occasional freak out on my part from the building stress. I'm an open book and love to share everything I'm going through on my blog. It's so precious to me. I will still be posting about our life in between wedding planning but I thought I would just put that out there and hope nobody minds too much. I also happily welcome any advice and ideas anyone has from person experience. I love reading about all types of weddings and especially find it fascinating when people do things a off beat and nontraditional. It's more fun that way.
