How I've Missed You

Ok. Things have been a little crazy lately. There's so much going on and it's keeping me from my precious blog. It really makes me sad. I enjoy it so much and I wish I had time to contribute more but there's some exciting stuff happening and it'll just take me a little longer to get into the swing of things and back to my bloggin' ways.
First and foremost, I started a new job with animal control last month. I love finally having a job that helps animals. But wow... I completely underestimated the workload this department takes on. I was overwhelmed by all the things I had to learn. The first couple of days I got to ride along with the animal control officers to see a day in the life of. It was pretty interesting to say the least. We had to pick up a poor possum in someone's back yard that had wounds from a hawk snatching on it's back. There was a distempered raccoon in another yard that walked right up to me like it knew me and barely even noticed the catch line slipping over it. I took a tour of the wildlife rescue and saw baby raccoons, skunks and birds. So cute! Then the field trip was over and the real work started. I'm not gonna lie, it's a high-stress environment for sure. When I get home, I hardly want to look at a desk or computer. It's getting easier and easier every day and I'm so thankful that I was selected for this job. I was so ready to start anew. I work with some great people too.

Oh and to top it all off, I work at the new animal shelter and every once in awhile we'll have an office dog! Someone in the office is usually fostering and they're just the cutest little pups. Love it love it love it. When I can finally take a break I'll mosey about and make faces at the new kittens and puppies. If you're in the area I highly recommend checking it out.

When I get home, all I want to do is be lazy with my Sweet Baby James. :)

I also joined a cover band!

Along with two other women, I'm a singer and I LOVE IT! I've always been a karaoke geek but wanted to do something different. The idea of singing with a live band was so thrilling. Like my makeup artistry beginning, I just dove right in. I can't wait to share more on this. We're going to spend the next few months adding songs to our catalog and perfecting our sound. Then we'll start playing at some local venues. I'm having such a blast. Everything is really coming together and I look forward to our Tuesday night practices. I'll introduce to the band members soon. :)

   Oh yeah...
I also got new glasses. :)

CSS tonight!

Tonight is going to be wonderful! This will be my second CSS show and I know it's going to be full of good times and dancing. They're back in Austin and this will be my first time at Emo's. To top it all off, I'll be with James and two of my favorites girlies, Megan and Dallas. Pictures to come!

Holiday Roll

I've had so much fun in the past two weeks. Me and my girls Megan and Taylor, along with their husbears, all took some time to hang out for the 4th of July and my 27th birthday. I love these people! We rarely miss a silly-ass photo-op so here we are! LOL! Love you girls!

I love this pic of me and James. He's being shy while I'm nerding it up in my new glasses.

Little story behind the post title:

Me: James, remember that National Lampoon song? Do they say 'Holiday Roll'?

James: No, I think it's Holiday Road...

I find the song on You Tube

Me: Yep... It's "Road"... Oh well.

Shit. Now it's stuck in my head...

Cinemanic Monday: "Letting everyone down would be my greatest unhappiness."

This film is like candy to me. The music is my favorite part. I instantly fell in love with all the songs. Thank you Sophia Coppola making this wonderful compilation. Although I feel this is but a glimpse of Marie Antoinette's life that overshadows all the negative aspects, this film is a dream. It is an ambition of mine to visit Versailles, walk the gardens in a soft white cotton dress and take a nap in the shade.
