Cinemanic Monday: "If I'm not successful, it won't be distressful cause I don't care!"

I think this is my first Judy Garland post! I can't believe it. I love love love Judy!. She was amazing. In the Good Old Summertime is one of my favorite Judy movies. I just realized she was my age when she made this in 1948. It's a much earlier version of You've Got Mail. Sorry Tom and Meg, this movie totally kicked your movie's ass. My mama and I used to love watching this together. It's a wonderful film. About twice a year I'll pop this into the DVD player and watch all the songs and sing along. It makes me so happy.

This post deserves some music to go along with it. Push play!

I just love that adorable red pout.
Judy and her handsome co-star, Van Johnson.

I love this scene. They're so cute together. Her voice is heavenly.

This was Liza Minnelli's film debut! 3 years old and cute as a button.

This is such a great song! "I Don't Care" I live by these lyrics.

Buster Keaton's in this too! Awesome bonus.

In the Good Old Summertime (1949)
The Shop Around the Corner (1940)
You've Got Mail (1998)

The Shop Around the Corner looks so charming! Jimmy Stewart was so cute. I'll have to watch that soon.

  1. A real classic! I sing "Meet Me Tonight in Dreamland" and "Put Your Arms Around Me, Honey" all the time. This film was the first time I was introduced to this oft-used story line, but it still holds up as the best! I love S.Z. Sakall, Spring Byington, and Buster Keaton too!
