What's to come..

I know I'm late on the Resolution Post bandwagon but I'm lazy and needed a little extra time to think about it. Here's what I have in store for 2013...

Travel more

I love getting out of town. I live for it. James and I would love to take another road trip this year. I really hope we can make it happen. Two years ago we took a two week road trip and it was the best thing ever! We went to the Grand Canyon, Yosemite Valley, Vegas and so many places in between. I'll have to do a separate post on that trip. I want to travel as much as possible this year. I've been meaning to visit my friend Carrie in NC and James and I are both dying to go back to Disneyland. I really can't wait for our next road trip. It's so much fun to plan. I always wanted to be the glamorous lady behind the wheel on the open road.
Our first trip of the year is coming up this weekend! We're going to stay with James' mother Janet in Abilene, TX. This won't be the most elegant of vacations but I'm super excited nonetheless. I've never been and I love visiting new places close to home. Special bonus: Ollie gets to come!
Another trip we're definitely taking this October is James' cousin's wedding in Toronto! Wooo hoo! I've always wanted to visit Canada and I can hardly wait. It's going to be gorgeous and I just love our Canadians.  I've never been this far from home and this one is going to require a passport. I can't wait!

Oh, and I am definitely going to travel somewhere by train this year. That is an absolute must.

Learn to dance

I'm already a dancing fool. I love love love to dance. If I don't go out dancing for awhile, it feels like pressure building up that needs to be released. I love watching classic musical and dance films. That is the kind of dancing I would love to learn how to do. The tango, foxtrot, ballroom and more specifically the waltz. James won't have anything to do with dancing so my dear friend Chris agreed to take some lessons with me. We're going to have so much fun! I can't wait to buy some proper dancing shoes.

Get off my ass

This definitely isn't a new resolution. My weight has fluctuated for a few years and I just haven't pushed myself enough to get active and stay active. I've done a few crash diets here and there but I'm done with that shit. It only works temporarily but the weight always comes back. I braved the Master Cleanse a couple of times and that was a nightmare. Now I know it really is a lifestyle change you have to make. Eating right and working out. That's what it has to come down to. I'm going to start Weight Watchers soon and get some inspiration and recipes from Pinterest and fellow bloggers.

Get braces

This had been a loooong time coming. I've been wanting braces since I was a teenager. Unfortunately, my family couldn't afford it so it's up to me to make it happen. Twice already, I've had appointments to get them on but alas money has not been my friend lately and I have to keep postponing it. I just want them on and over with!

New Job, New Adventure

I've had a full time office job for the past 5 years and I'm anxious to make some changes. It's an OK job. I get paid decently, it's not very stressful and I'm comfortable. I just want something new. I need something new. I'm still waiting to hear back from an interview I had a few weeks ago. Wish me luck! Either way, I'm going back to school. I've waited long enough and this has to be done!
As some of you may already know, I'm also a freelance makeup artist. There aren't enough jobs to do this full time but I'm OK with that. I take jobs as they come and I'm happy to have them. It's so much fun. I'm sorry for not posting about this too much. They don't really come that often and I was wary about making this a makeup blog (product reviews, swatches and the like). It doesn't define me as a person and I certainly didn't want it to define my blog. I do love me some makeup though! And I'm planning on posting more about my makeup jobs and favorite looks. Stay tuned! I have some coming up very soon.

Click & Sew

Last year, I learned how to properly use a sewing machine for the first time and it's become my new obsession. My makeup kit is getting so jealous... I definitely want to take more classes this year at the Stitch Lab and finally make my first garment. I'm already excited!
We have a wonderful Canon camera at home that needs more of my attention this year. I've been thinking about adopting one of those Photo-a-Day challenges but that camera is heavy! Maybe I'll start small with a 5  photos a week... Either way, James and I are going to take more outings and I can show you more of my wonderful city. :)

  4. I have also resolved to travel more this year! I get stir crazy if I stay in one place too long. Good luck with all of your resolutions!

  5. All great resolutions! Best of luck in 2013.

  6. Great resolutions! I've been reading more and more of your blog and I love it! I've always wanted to go to America to those deep south places like Texas and Alabama, it looks so interesting and I love watching movies which circulate around those parts (most recently Lawless). It is just the complete opposite of where I come from, which is Northern Ireland, so I hope to take a road trip over there in the next fews years or so and have a look around.

I love looking at your pictures, please keep them coming!

And your dog is such a cutie

    much love

  7. I cannot use a sewing machine. Will you teach me!?! And find a job you love! I know how the "comfortable" jobs are. Do something that makes you happy, even if it scares you a little :)

  8. all of your resolutions sound great. I especially love the traveling one and the getting into shape one. Why? well because it is something that I am looking forward to do myself too. Over the weekend I saw an episode of MADE on mtv about some gal who wanted to be transformed into one of those muscle, bikini models. She worked out long and hard and ended up with wonderful results. I told my Husband that I too wanted to do the same. Get into shape and feel healthy and athletic this year. I hope we all reach our goals this year! I can't wait to see all of you post about your trips!

I love hearing what you think. Thanks for taking the time.
