Let's do the time warp again

The Grace Museum, Abilene, TX. This place a lot of fun. The first floor had very vibrant paintings of wildlife and mahogany sculptures of twisted animals. The second floor were amazing impressionist paintings and pastels. All Texas artists of course. :) The third floor was my favorite. They had a science center for kids but James and I still poked around and had some fun.

My First Giveaway!

I'm so excited! As some of you may know, I started sewing last year and it has been my new found obsession. I took a few classes at the Stitch Lab and learned how to make these adorable zippered makeup bags. I went crazy, buying all kinds of prints and making them as Christmas gifts for my family. I took some time this weekend to finally use this cute polka dot print to make a set for one of my lovely readers. I can't wait to see who wins! Seriously, you guys are the best and this is just the first of many handmade giveaways.

All you have to do is follow my blog on GFC and leave a comment with your email address. That's it.

Open to both US and international readers. Entries will be accepted until this Saturday, 10 AM CST. The winner will be chosen at random and contacted by me via email. Good luck duckies!

This giveaway is now closed.
Congrats to Debbie of Undefined Blue Honey!! I will be contacting you soon.

Puppy Party!

Mary, Megan and I went to our friend Sam's house last Friday for a little ladies night get together. Her dog recently had a litter so it quickly turned into a puppy party! I still can't get over the level of cuteness. They are so freakin' cute!!! They're chihuahua/pomeranian mixes. They were so small!!!!
I had to snap this photo. A puppy for everyone. What more could a girl want?
This picture kills me! I can't stop looking at it. LOL It's so cute! Sam told me they were already spoken for but I could definitely get on from the next batch. I can hardly wait! My heart is so ready for another dog but James still needs convincing. Hopefully this post will help. ;)
They kept playing and sleeping. Then playing and sleeping some more.

Watch them in action!

Fabulous Finds

While James and I were in Abilene, we spent some time moseying about downtown. Before we headed back to his mom's I insisted we hit up at least one little antique store. For those of you new to the blog, antiquing is kind of my thing. I totally judged the Google search results by name and decided on Fabulous Finds cause it sounded the most girliest. This place was great! There was this sweet older woman working there and she kindly let me take photos of her store.

I was so tempted to buy that tea set. I'm waiting for the perfect one though. :)

"I roller-skated to your door at daylight..."

An antique store is never complete without candy colored dishes.

They had a ton of these.

 Pretty platters

I actually exclaimed, "Miniatures!"

The shop keep, Judy, talkin' it up with James. He's so cute. :)

I found this amazing dress from the 50's that I couldn't wait to try on. Judy let me borrow the office cause they didn't have a changing room. It fit perfectly!!! Only $20. Of course I bought it along with this adorable embroidery and a little surprise for Taylor for her upcoming birthday.

 *sigh* I'm in love.

Stay tuned for more adventures from Abilene. :D

Luke Jerram

I came across this link last night about the artist Luke Jerram's Glass Microbiology collection. I am completely blown away by the detail in his sculptures. He's created exact replicas of harmful viruses. The photo above is HIV.
 SARS Corona virus
 E. coli
 Human Papillomavirus
Swine Flu (oval)
Swine Flu (round)

You can find more of the artist's work on his website. www.lukejerram.com

Twist and Stout

James and I went to Abilene to help his mom out this past weekend. We mostly stayed in but spent a couple of hours walking around downtown. We went to some great art galleries and had lunch at a brewery where we shared a giant bottle of Arrogant Bastard Ale. All around great day with my Sweet Baby James. My bangs were getting ridiculously long so I got a quick trim the day before we left. I'm not very happy with them so they'll take some getting used to. I was cursing myself for not going to Kari, my fabulous hairdresser friend. Sorry Kari! You think you can fix this? I was getting extra sad today because they're not doing what I wanted them to do. I'm willing my hair to grow! I take a long hard look in the mirror and strain my bang muscles. Oh well... It's just hair right? Right?! *gulp* I will get past this.

The top floor of the Grace Museum was like stepping out of a time machine. They had mock households designed to look like the 20s to the 70s. Along with this little boot shop. I loved that floor. I'll post that very soon.
Aww he's shy. :)

Cinemanic Monday: Leave the sewing to the women. You go get some trimmin'

I love me some Disney. For years, I've been waiting for my favorites to come out of that bloody vault to add to my glowing Blu-ray collection. James, being the sweetie he is, bought me Cinderella for Christmas and I finally got around to watching it last night. He said he hadn't seen in like 25 years. I can't believe he actually watched the whole thing with me! To be fair, I did put it on in the bedroom at 10 pm. Sorry I kept you up so late baby.
It wasn't always my favorite as a kid but I completely forgot how funny this movie is! Even James mentioned how surprising it was that Cinderella was being sarcastic when she called Lucifer "your majesty". I'll spare you the adorable imagery we're all too familiar with. I can always count on Tumblr to corrupt a good clean image.

My sister still randomly makes fun of me for admitting in my childhood that the corn Cinderella hands out for breakfast looked delicious. They looked like little tiny wedges of cheese. They still make me hungry.

Damn, those bitches were ugly...
I blame this scene for my longing to have a giant bouncing booty dress.
Ok I lied about the adorable imagery. I love this part! Pretty pretty princess.

Hands down, favorite part.

One more time... LOL!
Go ahead, make fun of me for being a Disney freak.
