New favorite app: Vinted

I wish I would have thought of this app. You can open your closet to the world and be like, come and get it, betches! I have a bad habit of buying cute shit I never wear. I look at it, all lonely in my closet, and say "I'll wear you someday.... right?"

I'm cleansing my place of unneeded crap for our impending move next year. It's almost therapeutic just posting things on this app knowing I'm one step closer to getting rid of it. I'm posting new or barely used items. Check it out! It's fun.

I really miss my blog. I don't know what's going on but I have not been inspired to write. I definitely have time. My schedule at work recently changed and now I have three days off in a row. The first thing I thought was, BLOG POSTS! Then... nothing. Three days off now means I work 10 hour days... entirely in front of a computer. Me thinks that could be the culprit.

Either way, I am going to really really make an effort to make a good comeback. This really is like therapy to me. I just love my little blogger community! I miss reading all my favorite blogs. There's so much catching up to do.

Here's what I've been up to lately:

Reading A Story Lately Told by Anjelica Huston. This book just came out and is part one of her memoir. I really admire this woman. Something really speaks to me with the roles she chooses. On more than one occasion I'll look at photos of her online for hours. So far, this book has not disappointed. I'm really enjoying it. Ms, Huston, you have bewitched me.

Writing Bite reports. I've been working for animal control for the past six months and a large portion of what I do is rabies control. I assist in investigating each and every bite that happens in our jurisdiction. You would not believe how many bites occur in this relatively small city. I've heard some pretty outrageous stories. It keeps things interesting.

Listening to the Beach Boys. For the life of me, I cannot understand why I was not enjoying these lovely harmonious chaps sooner. I grew up listening to my parents records which mainly consisted of 70's and 80's music. Then I was consumed by the 90's. I heard Good Vibrations on the radio and thought, Daaaaamn, this is good. So I bought their Best Of and would play it while I cooked dinner dancing surf-board style (that's the only way I can explain it). It gradually moved to my car stereo and has not left the CD player for months.

Smelling Thanksgiving!!! James had to work this afternoon so I woke up real early, determined to make us a full Thanksgiving meal, even if we had to have it for lunch. I've only stepped out of the house once to drop some postcards in the mailbox and the whole street smells like food! I'm going to miss that. I hope you had a great one!

Wishing everyone gets home safely from their holiday travels.

Hoping I get to finish sewing all my Christmas gifts in time.

Wearing a new shorter haircut. For some reason, I go shorter in the winter. Maybe it's because I want it to dry faster after washing it. It's getting cold! (I haven't taken a photo of it yet)

Loving embroidery. I stumbled into this embroidery shop after a dentist appointment and was transfixed on this gigantic book of images they could create on their machine. Everything you could think of! I'm obsessed with it now. I've been taking fabric in for the past two weeks to get new stuff for future sewing projects. I'm becoming fast friends with the two guys that work their. Hopefully they'll let me take photos behind the scenes for a post soon.

Wanting a black leather jacket.

Needing a Black. Leather. Jacket. Right meow.

Feeling anxious. I've been trying to get braces for a long time and it's finally getting close. Very close. I also have so many ideas rolling around in my head for my growing sewing business. I'll be using the same name as the blog. First step, have embroidered tags made.

Special Edition of Cinemanic Monday: "Here's a nice piece of shit!"

"I'm sorry what did you just say? There's a Billy Madison quote-along?! Oh yes, I'll be there". This movie never even occurred to me when I think "What's going to be my next Cinemanic Monday?" It's seriously like second nature to me. A fond memory from my childhood that's just become of part of who I am. My brother and sister watched this at least once a week. Dammit, I love this movie. I love that daiquiri- induced penguin. I love Miss Lippy's paste face. I love the still horny Revolting Blob. I love delicious Triscuit crackers. I love burning dog poo and the human response. I love Crazy Carl. And most of all, I love that Billy, Billy boy. He's a fine piece of work, alright.

Of course, the Alamo Drafthouse put this little shindig together. Brilliant! They gave us all a travel-size shampoo, a stress busting penguin and a red balloon to play dodge ball with. We had so much fun!

Me, when I take my hair down...

Me, with no mirror.

There are too many amazing parts to this movie and I'm too sleepy to keep going.

Good night, duckies.

The trip of a lifetime!! James and I took a 2 week road trip and one of our stops was Yosemite National Park. The most spectacular place I have ever been. I can't wait to go back.

James' sister Jenny, James and me in 2010.

The Ahwahnee Hotel. I plan on staying here next time around.

Cinemanic Monday: "Yo I gotta have sex tonight!"

Did anyone else love this movie to death? Well done 90's. I remember my sister and I watching this almost every day on VHS. She had the hots for Ethan Embry. Hell, she even named her son after him. I, on the other hand, had a special place in my heart for Seth Green.

Yes, you.

    I. Had. It. Bad. I made it my mission to seek out and watch all of his movies. Most of them were pretty awful and his hairdos were even worse. I didn't judge though. He was my little dreamboat Leprechaun. I even wrote him fan mail and sent it to the Buffy studio. A few weeks later, my mom was waiting for me on our porch after school, the biggest smile on her face, and handed me this:

I screamed like every crazed Beatles fan there ever was. I immediately framed it and showed it off to everyone I knew. It was my most prized possession. Two years later, there was a new girl at my school and we had Seth in common. I casually bragged to her about having his autograph. "No biggie" Without a beat, she digs into her bedroom drawer and pulls out the same exact autograph!! It was never the same after that.
You broke my heart, Seth Green.

FYI, I did not scan this postcard. This is one of probably hundreds sent to unsuspecting fangirls.

Back to the movie. (wipes tears) I highly recommend watching this with some friends for some good old 90's nostalgia. Great soundtrack, adorable cast and some damn good laughs.
