Cinemanic Monday: "You go for me, but I'm taboo. But if you're hard to get I go for you."

I love this picture so much I framed it and put it on my dining room wall. So much sex appeal. Pretty shocking considering it came out in 1954. Dorothy Dandridge is incredible! This is a woman who knew exactly what she wanted and played the part of Carmen Jones perfectly. She got an Oscar Nomination for Best Actress! She was the very first African American woman to ever be nominated for that category. She lost to Grace Kelly. Whatever. Fun fact! Halle Berry, the first African American woman to ever win Best Actress won it by playing Dorothy Dandridge and a biopic. Isn't it ironic? Don't you think.
She was absolutely gorgeous! And I love her clothes in this film. This outfit is adorable and I want to replicate it every time I watch it. She reminds me so much of my friend Dominique. She has the same beautiful features and I tell her all the time. Check out her super cute blog Howie and the Hamiltons
