Bram Stoker's Dracula is one of my favorite films. James and I were watching all the special features and I got to learn more about Academy Award Winner Eiko Ishioka and her amazing innovations with the film's costumes. I recently watched another great film The Cell and was reminded of Dracula's warrior uniform when I saw Jennifer Lopez's dreamland costume. The imagery of that film is what makes it so stunning to watch. I wanted to post about her work and then discovered, sadly, that she had passed away this January. She will be missed.

She directed Bjork's video Cocoon.
I recently watched Dracula too and thought the same thing about the costumes! When I was researching about Ms. Eiko Ishioka's death I was dismayed about her death as well! </3
ReplyDeleteGood Post Mandy, now I want to watch The Cell again
ReplyDeleteGreat post. Ms. Ishioka was supremely talented. Note: The picture of the dress following the "The Cell" collage is a design by Thierry Mugler. However, Ishioka could have easily designed it, I believe!
