Cinemanic Monday: "You think you're hot shit but you're really just cold diarrhea"

Welcome to the Dollhouse is the where it all started. Dawn Wiener in all her nerdy glory, hated by her teachers, classmates and even her own family. The poor dear. I was 11 years old the first time I saw it which made me the same age as her character. I was obsessed with this movie. This was the number one movie my cousin Meghan and I couldn't get enough of. We watched it constantly. Laughing at her misery, laughing even harder when she fought back and enthusiastically quoted every single word. Now that I think of it, where the hell were our parents when we were watching this? This movie is so fucked up!

To me, this is the sweetest moment in the whole movie. It's right after Brandon tells her "I really will rape you next time" Awwwww!
Some notable quotes:
Dawn: Why do you hate me?
Lolita: Because you're ugly.

Steve to Dawn: Special people equals retarded. Your club is for retards.

Cookie: Hi Dawn, sorry to bother you but we were just wondering are you a lesbian? Well are you?
Dawn: No.
Lolita: Liar. She made a pass at me.
Cookie and her friends: Hahahah! Lesbo lesbo lesbo lesbo lesbo

Dawn: Ralphie gave it to me.
Brandon: Why do you hangout with that faggot?
Dawn: Just because he's a faggot doesn't mean he's an asshole.

Dawn: I was fighting back
Mrs. Wiener: Who told you to fight back?

Dawn: Do you think about girls?
Mark (her brother): Are kidding? I want to get into a good school. My future's, like, important.
Welcome to the Dollhouse
I guess I'm kinda drawn to stories about dysfunctional families, being from one myself. But seriously, it makes me so sad to hear about kids getting bullied. It must be so awful for the parents who feel totally helpless when their child is getting picked on by their peers. And it's even more awful for the child. I witnessed it with my mother and little brother. It really can happen to anyone. I hope that none of your have every experienced it. Visit Stop Bullying for some helpful advice.
