The Wizard of Early Cinema

James and I finally saw Hugo this week. Great movie. I had no idea it was about the filmmaker George  Méliès. I didn't know his name before seeing the movie but I have seen many images and heard of his famous film A Trip to the Moon. This man is a pioneer when it comes to the horror, fantasy and science fiction genres. He was literally a magician and was one of the first filmmakers to use multiple exposures, time-lapse photography and hand-painted color. Within a 19 year period, he directed 531 films. Simply amazing.
